It is totally safe until you start to feel that you are uncomfortable. I slept on my stomach for weeks and weeks. When it became uncomfortable, almost like I was layin on someones foot, you naturally turn on your side. When when you sleep you feel it and turn over safely. My son turned out great!
If you think its not safe you can always sleep on your side and then lay a pillow against your stomach. When you roll on your stomach it is usually uncomforable because of the extra elevation so you dont want to lay on your stomach.
Congrats!

It will become uncomfortable and you'll realize that sleeping on your side may not be so bad. I'm the same way and it took me until about 18 weeks until it felt like there was a rock in my stomach. So it's safe until it's so uncomfortable that you don't want to do it. It's like natures way of telling you it's not OK anymore. Oh..and after 20-22 weeks it's bad to sleep on your back. I highly recomend getting a body pillow. It'll change your life :) Good luck..

In the early months, it's alright. After around 16 weeks, I'd say that you should only sleep on your right or left side. (I did) It won't harm your baby in the early months though. Once you get so big, sleeping on your stomach won't be very comfortable anyway. Good luck with your pregnancy and congrats.

No. For a low risk pregnancy there is little risk during the first months. As always, when in doubt consult your OBGYN. When your belly starts to grow, and it becomes uncomfortable to sleep on your tummy, you should sleep on your side. If you sleep on your back, you will diminish blood flow to the fetus and you will have more back pain. Get a long pillow and sleep on your side with the pillow propped under your bump and under 1 leg. This was the best position for me as it diminishes pressure on your lower back and allows optimum blood flow to baby. Congratulations!

i have had 4 children and am having number 5 i have never been told how to sleep, just what ever way is comfortable. i always sleep on my front I'm now over 23weeks and sleep on my front the baby soon lets me know when to move!!!
all my babies were born 100% healthy
the baby is so cushioned in your stomach it takes a lot more than laying on him/her to hurt them

I am not a doctor but I used to do the same thing, but as I progressed in pregnancy it became uncomfortable but it didn't harm my baby but everyone is different so I would suggest you ask your doctor if you are concerned.

You won't sleep on your stomach when you get big enough to hurt the baby - it's not possible.

In late pregnancy, yes it's harmful to sleep on your stomach as you're constricting circulation and breathing.

I dont know if it will harm your baby, but it hurts my breasts! They are growing and it hurts to lay on my tummy, so i have to sleep on my side now.
