I use Dell products in my business and am completely satisfied, the customer service was good (I don't live in the USA), Dell has rectified any problems I had punctually. One of my customers also uses Dell products and they are very happy. As always I've heard horror stories about HP, Toshiba, Asus, IBM etc. Don't think there is really a huge difference between suppliers.

My step sister bought a laptop from Dell, they had an add in the local paper and it looked like a good deal. She ordered over the phone and paid by credit card. It was just a standard laptop, no upgrades but that is all she wanted as she already had a good computer.
They took her money but then rang her and asked what upgrades she wanted. She said she didnt want any, just the laptop that was advertised. They stuffed her around for weeks. She finally got her money back and they admitted they actually didnt have the advertised laptop. They reckoned no one buys a laptop without the optional upgrades.
I dont know if they have stopped this practice.

Dell is full crap man, yes, the price is very cheap and lots of free softwares they give you.....

Bad things about Dell:
-Support sucks... I once asked Dell for support, and they just say, oh all Dell softwares are not capable for Vista, Bye.... CRAP....
-It takes out heat out of the computer real bad
-The components that they use is bad

Solution: Dell? Buy IBM or Asus, at least they are better than Dell!

Stay away from Dells. Their quality has really gone down in recent years. Think about Toshiba or HP.

dont, they overheat and dell service absolutely sucks eggs. they go WAY overboard with service problems if you sell the computer and dont transfer the info with them, they are of little help with master password issues and many times the techs have no concept of what they are doing....also none of the hardware is vista compatibile...you get what you pay for.
