what does a zig unit in a caravan do?

Just bought a second hand caravan, abbey gt 2 berth and it has a zig unit, which i dont know anything about. Not even what it is supposed to do. Any caravanners out there that could help with advice

A Zig unit supplies a 12 volt supply when connected to the mains to run your 12volt lights, water pump etc, and also charges the leisure battery for when you have no mains hook up available.
