Someone appears to say others are on sitting on a junk and someone feeds them. This is nothing but arrogance. Self styled arrogance.

First of all - generalizing arrogance to all Americans is insulting and disrespectful.

Secondly, there is a lot of arrogance in the USA because we have many citizens who blindly follow the sound bites and who have been convinced that they should fear and hate people who are different.

When you watch Bush strut onto a carrier and arrogantly proclaim the end to a war that continues today and has caused the deaths of 4000+ US military, the deaths of 100s of thousands of innocent Iragis, and the maiming of countless others, that is arrogance.

The US is arrogant as was Rome before it fell and Hitler before he took his own life. Sad but true - but please, do not blame all Americans for this arrogance.

By the way India is a great country and I can't wait to visit there again. I've been to oh about 45 countries now and it's odd how arrogance seems to be a prevailing trait among many countries. However the U.S. over the years has gone from the little brother other countries looked down on to a rather large big brother that is still learning to use it's large muscles. The U.S. is still learning and is relatively a young nation compared to many countries in the world. It's all a matter of perceptive. Heck, met a native of the Brazilian rain forest that never even heard of Britain and was convinced the greatest nation on Earth was Disney World.

That most of the people advising the Chief Executive and the various Congressional/Senate committees have little or next to none education of the real issues at hand, (except perhpas te agenda they serve) or they are to old to catch up with present world affairs, paying no attention to the cautions and experience of the various commanders in the field.
As to politics the same (-) the "commanders" views perhaps, including not listening to the various Ambassadors whom are installed in many a posts around the world, or having Ambassadors whom are not really serving their President and their country, but someone's political agenda.
We are not arrogant. We are powerfull by today's standards but to remain such and for the good of our nation we must take heed o what is happening around the Globe.
US politicians should travel as much as possible(especially them in committee so and so and so and so) they should be responsible to give their President "accurate and un-bias" information, for party politics is mainly the reason we are where we are today. "pointing the finger" at each other, and blaming the President. That is easy. However we Americans easily forget that any President and any Administration have and always will have advisers. It is the "wise" that choose their advisers with prudence and not on political pressures and affiliations.

Americans have been viewed by Europeans, especially the British, as "arrogant" since the founding of the country. The British crown labeled our founding fathers as such because of their desire for independence. The British felt this desire was due to the "arrogance" of a few and the US revolutionary war began. At the beginning of WWI the US was labeled arrogant for not getting involved in European affairs. The US thus went into a period of isolationism. Then in WWII we were labeled arrogant for not getting involved fast enough. After the war the US position was that Europeans were a warring people destined to destroy the world so the US took an active roll in making sure the contineint didn't fall prey to another global conflict, viewed by most arrogant Europeans as medeling in their affairs.
Just as any lable, one can find truth if they look hard enough to support their biased views. I can create lables stating how rude the British are and provide studies and evidence to support the lable. Yet in my travels I have met several very polite British citizens. I can lable the Irish as violent drunks and back that up with information on the country's alocholism rates and IRA bombings of innocent people. I can lable the French as weak and cite all of the wars they have lost (WWI, WWII, Vietnam etc etc). I can lable the Canadians as simpletons that are too afraid to break from British rule.
I can lable any country I want it any terms I want and can support it, but to me to lable a population based on biased views is simply a form of racism. Unless you travel to their country and meet the people you are a simple uneducated racist basing your views on preconcived notions fueled by biased information.

Pride (also vanity or arrogance) is the essentially competitive and excessive belief in one's own abilities that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God, or the worth which God sees in others. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is listed as one of the seven deadly sins.

Arrogance is defined as overbearing pride. In answer to your question:
Most Americans are deeply proud of their country, their heritage and their history. We know we have a system of government like no other and the ways and means to assist other countries in need.
For all of our faults, we are still the best place to live in the world. You have only to look at the vast numbers of people from all over the world who are trying to emigrate here to validate that statement.
If you find that overbearing, then you'll have to just deal with it. No apologies from me or any other US Citizen.

I'll give you this much... I'll equate the majority of the arrogance you witness here on immaturity. Much in the same way I will say that questions like yours are a clear example of ignorance.

If I were you, I'd be more worried about what is happening in India than you are about what is happening in the US. You folks have your own issues. Pakistan is knocking.

Depends on what you describe as arrogant. If you are living on a junk with barely enough to eat, I suppose we would appear to be quite arrogant. The Queen of England is incredibly arrogant. Howz about Prince Charles? That is complete arrogance. So what if we are arrogant. We didn't get to the top of the food chain by being little meek losers. We are proud, not arrogant. PROUD!
