You are pretty lucky to have a banyan tree, I've seen alot of trees and have never seen this one. I went on Yahoo's search for questions and searched Banyan Tree, try it, as far as growing the banyan tree, I would'nt think it would be any different than any other tree, Dig the hole alittle wider than the trunk, and the depth of the roots should be only as deep as to cover the the roots, in other words don't bury the trunk, and for mabe 6 months stake it up, so the wind does'nt interfer. and ofcourse, before you put the tree into the hole, add some time release fertilizer, cover that alittle with soil and,put the tree in and cover with soil and water. These trees are native to India and China. Good Luck
