about Anthropology?

Question

I want to go to the States to study Antropology (Master degree) I want to know which University or college has a best or better Anthropology programme? or which country has the better programme on that? Thanks :-)

don't forget to look at professors' interests and areas of studies. that might help you narrow your search. also, some schools might be more focused in cultural or physical anthro so look into that too. good luck!

It's more important to look at what area you want to study. For instance, the University of Tennessee has an awesome forensic anthropology program, but you may not want them for other areas. You want to see what they study and what their professors study. It makes no sense to go to a school with a bunch of profs who are interested in the Mississippian village politics if you're more into the trade routes of the Southwest.

Also, don't pay attention to the traditional big name universities in the US, necessarily. Harvard would be great if you were a business major, but, as an anthropology major, you should probably look at the University of Chicago or something in a large Western state.

To find which university is best for you, figure out what you want first. Then, look up articles and check out books or talk to your current professors to see which schools or anthropologists are doing the research in that area. Then go to the website of that school where those guys teach to see if their program matches up with what you want. That's sort of how I know about UofT's anthro department- I read a book about their Body Farm.

I would suggest to you that you go to Cornell University which is in Ithaca, New York it has a wonderful anthropology program
