that's one messed up place for sure...if a truly democratic govt. took over they'd probly want the USA out anyway, so maybe that's why there is continued violence there to keep it weak and dependent on the USA.....the US is making hardened army bases all over that country that makes it look like they want to stay.

I don't even have to view your link to know where your mindset is.
Just reading the link tells me everything I need to know.
My opinion of the newly setup democracy in Iraq is it must have some merit if the resistance to it is going to the extremes that it is to stop it.
Given time and with the proper support I think it will succeed. Question is, do we have the willpower to stay involved to see it succeed.
A democratic Iraq in that region of the world would be good for the whole world. If we leave it fails. If we stay it will eventually succeed but it is going to take time and a massive amount of effort.

I can't speak for all of America, just 1/300,000,000, but my opinion is that right now it is a forced democracy and the people of Iraq need to stand up and determine whether it is a success or not.

We still hope the democracy will survive but it is very weak right now and has a lot of opposition from radical Islamists. Many of us think it is sad because the people really wanted freedom and at first it seemed as though they would have it. Don't have too much respect for the Bush haters in our own country as they don't have much respect for our country.

I honestly dont see it working if the people who are running the government there are responsible for the death squads and all of the terrible gruesome things that are happening there.

Don't respect George Bush, because if you do, that might encourage him.
