I ask because it seems most are really preoccupied shopping for bargains for themselves and finding the perfect gift for a relative.

Christmas seems to be the ultimate gift grab for those of means.

Anyone ever here ever buy a toy or coat for a poor kid?

No...I just bought about thirty gifts for toys for tots...the prices..they are just to good to pass up...and I always adopt a few children to play Santa for every year....I'll spend approx
$1000.00 to make sure children get a gift from Santa and clean clothes, socks, and underwear...the woman who helped me out of the store has eight children and I will connect with her to help
I bought fifteen cabbage patch newborns...ten dollars apiece.
fisher price carnival play set..ten dollars! I bet I bought fifteen barbies at five dollars each and I bought five Dora the explorer dolls at fifteen dollars each....Kohl's has Dr Seuss books and nice
stuffed characters to match...five dollars each...I can't even stand to think of any child not having a gift from Santa Claus... =(

I always buy cards from Unicef and people that draw pictures with their toes,i buy those pics.I dont care if I receive many gifts at xmas,i usually get one present only and im happy with it.
I also suggest internet adopting a kid from Africa, meaning you can send money to an organization and by that you will help a kid.they will send you the address of the kid etc etc.My mom's friend internet adopted one,she sends money to the organization, and the organization buys food, clothes etc for the kid.Look for it :)

Christmas is Jesus' birthday, and we should help the poor,as Jesus would do.Why buy 100000 gifts for our family? We wont change the world by giving more to the rich, right?

Well yes, I do. I don't have a lot myself, but I do what I can. People have to understand that it's not all about the money. And it's not all about gifts of material things. A dinner for a family, gift of time, watching some, children so parents can enjoy each other. These things seem to mean more than money or material things.

Yes!!!That's exactly what Christ did.He came to the lesser beings like us all and gave us life in fullness. So I try to do the same including our whole family. We try to keep in mind some needy person every year and help them out in what ever way we can.God does not expect us to give what we do not have but what we have. That's called sharing. This is not throwing away the surplus that I have but giving away the all that I have.

I am one of the less fortunate, I can't afford to buy gifts for people I don't know. I can't even afford to go shopping at any stores except at the dollar stores. So yeah, I am concerned with my family and that's it.

It really isn't any of your business what I do at Christmas time. But, every year, we do Christmas for a family that isn't going to have one. We celebrate it by giving our Christmas to them. We bring the tree, stockings full of stuff and presents. Also a fine dinner for all.
Now what do you do?
