This is for an assessment I'm doing. I know you can feed horses apples, but I have no idea how much.

If you don't know how many apples you can feed a horse per day, if you have a horse... if you feed them apples, how many?

Dear Gawd, please don't feed 20 apples per day! Unless you enjoy treating founder and colic!

I'd stick to one or two apples perday. Especially since some horses have problems metabolizing pectins and other sugars... insulin resistence and carb intolerance are other problems effecting the modern horse, thanks to our many years of feeding calorie rich grains, and not letting them graze for 10-12 hours a day, as their digestive system is designed.

Question 2. No you can't use normal fly spray on a horse. Go to your local equine store and buy a fly spray designed for horses; make sure it protects against midges as well as flys; read the instructions, you usually shouldn't spray anywhere near the face. Question 1. Yes you can feed garlic and cider vinegar to horses. You just add the garlic and vinegar to the feed, if you mix some bran up with the feed, then this will soak up the vinegar. You can feed the garlic kernels whole. Most people buy Garlic powder and add that to the feed though. The cider doesn't do anything to keep the flies away, it's more of an internal cleansing thing. As for amount, I don't know, but about 3 cloves and a "slosh" of vinegar should do it.

I would not feed him more than 1 or 2 a day. I know a girl that feed her small horse a bucket of apples. The horse almost died and he never got over it. He died only a year after this.

o_o Those of you saying, "02849!!!" and "32434343489378437hh394u3" I hope to God you don't have a horse.
It does depend on the size of the horse; One or two is good; three MAYBE for larger horses; I wouldn't, though. It also depends on the rest of their diet... and what other treats you've been giving your pony. :)
I'm a carrot-and-clovers girl myself.
