Both guys are second year players.

Who do you think will end up having the best individual career between the two, and why?
Who will take there respective team the farthest, and is most likely to guide a team to a potential title sometime in the future?

There stats are so close this season it's almost ridiculous.

Chris Paul (Hornets)
18.5 points / 4.1 rebounds / 8.8 assists / 1.6 steals

Deron Williams (Jazz)
18.3 points / 3.2 rebounds / 9.3 assists / 1.6 steals

Paul is shooting 47% from the floor, and 83% from the free throw line.
Williams is shooting 50% from the floor, and 78% from the free throw line.

Paul is quicker, and Williams is stronger.

Williams is a better 3pt shooter, and Paul is a better penetrator.

Point guards are only as good as the players that they have around them. I would put my money on Williams. Strong lasts in the NBA, quickness fades once the pounding you take adds up. The Jazz do a great job of finding talent. It has not taken them long to get back on the map in the post Stockton-Malone era. You never know if Deron will choose to be a Utah lifer or not but is there a better coach for a young player to learn from than Jerry Sloan? He will take that with him wherever he plays. I think that both of these guys will be around for a while, let's just enjoy watching!

When you really look at these two teams in relation to each player I think you see that Paul is the focal point of the future for the Hornets while Deron Williams is the 2nd or 3rd option on Utah. The Jazz will go further this season and maybe next but these two teams look like they could be battling one another in the playoffs for a few years to come. So, I have to give Paul the nod today, but maybe if you ask this question in a couple of years it will be an even tougher question.

final year i might have picked Deron Williams, yet this year Chris Paul is somewhat extra useful different than maybe as a shooter. it rather is style of annoying to tell good now. i think of Deron Williams could finally end up being extra useful in some years nonetheless.

Deron Williams is a rising star but he has a good team to work with, Chris Paul has turned to hornets into a good team.

If the Jazz stay on top of the league all year like they're doing right now, everyone will be convinced Deron is better.

Deron Williams, look at the Jazz's record. He is a huge part to their success.
