Have you ever noticed that when you burn different things in a fire they may have diffierent color flames? Have you seen fireworks with different colors? What do you think makes the different colors? different things burning? What different things??

NOW...

Have you ever played with a prism? What if I had a prism and looked at the different fireworks through the prism? Do you think those different fireworks would look different through the prism? I think they would. If one bottle rocket or firework looked blue when it burned it might only show blue through the prism.

If you get where I am going with this answer then the rest should be clear.
