Almost every culture on the planet has a werewolf type of story. Always from 'back in the old times' and heck, sometimes these storys were told 500 years ago.
Werewolves, like vampires probably existed at one time. However, with globalisation, and sprawl of humanity, I would assume if they are still alive and not extinct, then perhaps they might have been driven into a hiding of sorts.
Unfortunate, since we as people need a reminder of the terrible and horrific darkness to be happy to see the light.

Werewolves (as well as other were-creatures) do in fact exist. IN my travels I have witnessed many things, including the actual transformation of people who had calimed to be one or another of these creatures. Of course they are not what they have been portrayed in the media. Most often this ability is either inborn, or learned through the study of some form of sorcery (Like the Native American skinwalkers). Also one cannot be transformed into such a cerature by being attcked by one. If that were the case I would, even as I type these words, be transforming into a jaguar, and I am most definately NOT transforming.

Myths and legends, where would be without them. There has to be some kind of half truth to any of them. Otherwise why would the legend stay around for soo long. BOOOOO!!

I think the werewolf's that we have been shown in films are mainly a figment of the makers imagination.
There are, however, people who suffer from conditions that can be linked to this myth.
