why can i get the MAC address of my roommate's computer although i can't ping it successfully?

is his tcp/ip stack up? can he ping you? is your router blocking ICMP packets?

My guess is that he has his firewall set to no respond to ping requests.

use cc mac scanner its shows all macs in Local Areal network ..
