Why are people so stupid to put money into a christmas savings scheme and at christmas receive a hamper that is very bad value, they receive no interest on saving's.
Why not put it in a savings account ?
It is another case of the poor allowing themselves to remain poor!
They do not deserve to get compensation form to wise people who are fed up with paying benefits!!

Have you actually seen a Farepack brochure or seen what you receive? These schemes offer low income families a viable savings plan without the temptation of dipping into a savings account throughout the year.
Sure, there are better ways but let's be honest, the average low income family don't tend to be financially clued up to the same level as those who hold investments etc.
As for paying in money and getting nothing out - millions play the lottery every week and get little or no return. Are they all stupid?

Most of what you say is correct, and i agree, but we are not privy to other peoples circumstances, i hadn't thought about it until reading your question but maybe these Christmas saving schemes suite people because they can't open an account in a bank (it's not easy these day's or bankrupt) cant easily get the money out to squander, or there partners don't know they have this nest egg meaning they cant get at it to squander, with out a doubt there must be a reason, maybe someone who has lost there savings will answer your question.

Well as a fare pak customer I feel I can answer this.
I was very impressed with the lovely wicker hamper basket the food comes in. I thought I could use it all year long as a picnic basket.

I actually think these people are more sensible because at least they are saving for christmas and know they will have the money put asside for when it comes. Rather then waiting for christmas to arrive slap it all on a credit card ,try all year to pay it off with all the added interest and then do the same the following year.i also hate people like you sitting on your high pedestal looking down on people saying i told you so...or you shouldnt have done it like this you should have done it like that ....your pathetic!!!

Who are you? Marie Antoinette?
The poorer you are the more things cost.
It's harder it is to find a bank which will accept you as a customer.
Local branches of banks have been closed; many stand alone ATMs charge you for taking out your own money.
If you want to to a branch a bus ride away that's going to cost money.
Xmas clubs of one sort or another have been around for decades; people trust them.
If they'd been mugged in the street you'd be singing a different song but you think it's OK for them to be mugged by big businesses?

These people were doing the best they could for their families, without getting into debt.Everyone isn't as clever,or as fortunate, as you.Just as you were robbed of your pension, these poor souls were robbed by farepack. There has to be a certain level of trust in business,other-wise the system would break down. You should understand, these people are VICTIMS,& i find it disgusting that smug little people like you seem to take pleasure in kicking them when they are down.Have a miserable Xmas,Mr. Scrooge.

They are working class people who maybe don't have access to better information and were trying to do their best for their families. Show some empathy!
