that was put on bythe government for saving fuel/mileage by reducing the use of fuel? Someone told me a story about a man who bought a new car ata dealership(which contained this part)and took a trip to another state and when he returned he still had nearly a full tank of fuel.What part were they using to make this happen?

I heard a similar story in the mid 70's, where a customer bought a new full size Chevrolet that got an amazing 50-70 mpg ( story varies) Supposedly he soon received a re-call notice concerning a carburetor defect, but he refused to take the car to the dealership for "repairs". The story goes that eventually the "defective" part was then replaced in the owners driveway one night, without his knowledge, and his mileage dropped to "normal" for that car. There is also a story (I believe I remember a news report )about a home inventor that discovered a "do it yourself" modification to factory carburetors that got similar results, and he was touring the country, giving seminars on how to make said modifications. When the government declared his design to be a fire hazard, and banned it. These are most likely urban myths, but I have often heard there was a conspiracy between the federal government, big oil companies and American auto makers to keep such products off the market. I leave it to you to draw your own conclusions

never heard of such a thing in all my 48 yrs however i want one too if such a thing exists
