The markets are interesting - Portabello St for example. Also you can walk along the Thames and criss cross it over the various bridges, start a London Bridge and walk towards Hampstead Heath.

I think it depends on what you like. Half a day can easily be spent shopping around Piccadilly Circus or High Street Kensington, visiting the British Museum or taking a walk at Hyde Park.

Take in Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Cleopatra's Needle.
Natural History Museum will easily burn up half-a-day as would the British Museum.
Go on a London Walks tour. they're two hours long and very informative.

Take a boat ride from Westminster down the Thames to Greenwich and back. London grew up from the river, and by seeing it from river level, you get a good sense of its history and layout. The tourguides on the boat are knowledgeable and a lot of fun.
