I was wondering what happens when a pro athlete gets fined by the governing body. For instance, if the NFL fines a football player for some horribly jackass thing he did during a game.

Does the money go to charity? Or do they just go toward an upper level manager's yearly bonus?

If it is a team fine, then it goes to the Company or owner of the team to be used as management of that company (team) in repairs, uniforms, or just to help the team. If it is a league fine, then I believe that they say it goes to the NFL or whatever league for the betterment of the league. Prob still goes into the commish's pocket, but for their sake, I am sure they would say that it is donated or used for advertising or some crap like that.
