first off , I have no idea why they think their opinion matters, and feel so entitled to use their fame/money etc. to express their views.# 1 they are actors... not scholars, not politicians, and not Mensa members...yet they seem to feel it falls to them to verbalize their views in the hopes that fans will follow along and that they will be able to influence people.most of these people are egomaniacs , with poor examples of ideals /morals and are unworthy idols - especially for young people who are more easily led astray.I would add any celebrity to that list ...not just actors,-singers, sports figures, etc.personally , I have more respect for my garbage man's political views...at least he is down to earth, doesn't do drugs , isn't an alcoholic, doesn't dress trashy,or jump from bed to bed...lol..

C'mon, they're ACTORS--they KNOW everything! Ha! Seriously, I think they should be involved in politics--everyone should be involved on some level, since it's what drives formal policies on ethics, economy, law, education, etc. in any country. However, actors should stop spouting off about politics unless they've studied it. Just because you played a president in a movie, doesn't make you an expert. But there are actors, such as Richard Dreyfus who actually studied civics, who know what they're talking about, who actually make a point to research their viewpoints and opinions BEFORE they hang their face out and open their prettily lipglossed and ready-for-a-close-up lips. Let's give them a chance to prove they know what they're talking about before we take away their platform. Some of them really do care and want to make a difference, not because they're actors, but because they're "we the people," too.

Yeah, obviously actors don't have to be brainiacs. They always sound stupid and egotistical when they talk politics. Flakey too.

No one is denied running for public office because of a previous occupation.
