I just found out that I am pregnant with twin girls and I need help picking out a second name.

The first baby's name will be Avalon Jean.

The second baby's middle name will also be Jean. I need suggestions for the first name. I like names that begin with A and S and names that aren't so trendy.

I agree with Char d. As I had answered on another question about naming a baby. If you already have a name picked out then stick with it. But when your baby's are born and they don't seam to fit. You will know. And there names will come to you when they are born. I had 2 daughters not twins but when they were born I only had boys names picked out. Everyone told me that I was having boys I knew I wasn't just gut instinct. Anyway I didn't have girls names but when they were born we had there names just like that. Christina Marie my husband loved that name but also realized days later has my grandmothers initials backwards, ( she died of cancer 9 months before she was born), and Elizabeth Ann both her Grandmothers middle names and my middle name. When they are born you will know what their name will be. One thing to remember they are individuals and should have their own name. Sorry!!!
I don't want to tell you what to name your twins that is up to you. you must decide. Don't get stressed out about it you will know!!!
I hope I helped some. Good luck with your twins and hope they are healthy. God Bless!!!

Do the kids a favor and name them something strong but conventional. "Avalon" is a little risky. How about Elisabeth, Catherine, Alexandra? These are very strong female names with cool nicknames (Liz, Kate, Alex, etc) if they don't want to sound too formal. Your daughters will one day need to impress someone in an interview or a business meeting and the whole time the person they're talking to is thinking about the name and not the person and what they have to say. More often than not, you get one chance to make a first impression. The name is key. People see Britney and roll their eyes. Then they get a "deep" name like Avalon and they get distracted, even intimidated by how odd it sounds.

BTW, I did some research on Avalon and it has some great etymologies but the poor kid will spend the rest of her life explaining to people where it came from only to tell them it's a Celtic word for apple??? There are some interesting literary references but nothing apropos of a child and her personality.

Oh, congratulations on the twins! Best wishes for two healthy baby girls!

To answer your question the way you'd want me to ... how about ... Alexandra, Stephanie, Anastasia?

In Arthurian legend, an island paradise in the western seas to which King Arthur went at his death.

Atlantis

(tlăntĭs, ăt—) , in Greek legend, large island in the western sea (the Atlantic Ocean). Plato, in his dialogues the Timaeus and the Critias, tells of the high civilization that flourished there before the island was destroyed by an earthquake. The legend persists, and societies for the discovery of Atlantis remain active. Plato described Atlantis as an ideal state, and the name is considered synonymous with Utopia. Francis Bacon called his account of the ideal state The New Atlantis.

HI the name I gave my daughter does not start with either A or S. She was given a rare name. Kiko. The name was reserved for first born princesses of the Royal Japanese lines. As well the Indonesian royal family reserved the name for their first born girls as well. Do not confuse it with the whale Keiko. Kiko (pronounced Kee Koe) means precious lotus blossom. It is a rare and beautiful flower with a lovely scent. As well, I could not help but see a child in pigtails tearing down the street on her 3 wheeler and me yelling KIKO !! behind her. The name invokes sentiment, beauty and a little mischief and for my daughter, it was perfect. Just in case you were wondering, her middle name is Rachelle

I love the name Savaya, and also Sarayah..

There are alot of websights that have common names for the last 25 years.. That is a good way to delete names off your list if u dont want common names.
