Lol! Your question is awesome! I suppose if the tradition begun with hats as a symbol of marriage it would still be today but the tradition was started with rings so it really is just tradition. Although it is not necessary for a happy marriage, it is nice to have a symbol so if you want your symbol of marriage to be a hat then go for it girl! Start a new tradition.

lol rings are the traditional way of doing it. n plus...would you want to wear a hat all around everyday n everywhere to show that you're married...i wouldnt...might not match or go with the things you wear...n theres also hat hair lol

You know--a ring, a circle, symbolizes eternity. And if you're lucky, it sometimes reminds your husband that he's married, which is imperative! Sometimes they forget!
