Why do many gay men act more feminine and "girly" than women?

Hmm.. i myself am gay, and i see the point of your question

To be honest, i think its because in society, everything that we are, everything about a persons life, about a persons personality and a persons pride, mankind cannot live in peace without enjoying who they are, waht they are, and how they live, and because of this we all need to justify our lives, even if we dont think about it.

For a gay, because its so severely hated, there needs to be a bit of depth in understanding and justifying and accepting yourself as gay.

And for alot of gays, its not just becuase "we want the ****!" (altho in bed it may seem that way). For alot of gays, its because they've come to understand the language of the heart and emotion and think about mushy deep inner meaning crap more than other ppl do, and remove the limitations of taboo that the rest of society stick to.

So they may be a little more spiritual or philosophical -- but those are just personality traits, doesnt mean they're smarter or more sophisticated.

We don't behave LIKE we are, we behave BECAUSE we are..plain and simple. If people didn't appreciate glbt art, fashion, music abilities ect...they wouldn't come to the events or buy the products..helloooo. Maybe also, it's because many of us don't have children and the traditional "hetero" life, and so between one and their partner, they make a decent income and have extra funds to expend on such things, whereas most married straight couples with children do not. We have the money and the time, so why NOT enlighten yourself and become cultured? We're diverse people, we honor, respect, and understand the need for diversity, so we embrace ourselves in all that is diverse, and welcome it with an open mind. Sadly, many heterosexuals don't feel that way, and would rather NOT experience something "new" or "unknown" out of fear and ignorance, where I think glbt people are never afraid to try something new.

Riiiiiiight... as opposed to what exactly? Football, rap (aka crap), and cowboy hats? We don't behave LIKE, you idiot; we ARE more sophisticated, enlightened, and trendy than you wannabe gangsta types and Bushitler followers. Since when is wearing pants that sag to your KNEES anything to brag about? Whatever happened to a nice, sensible pair of faded jeans? If THAT'S knowing fashion and being "trendy," then I feel endless pity for the world. It SHOULD just be common sense to not wear shirts that can be considered pajama material out in public.

Often times they are more sophisticated. They've seen life from a different perspective than the rest of us - which covers them generally being more enlightened as well. As far as trendy goes, that's a toss up between a lot of different people - teen age girls and boys, singles in their twenties, etc.

Maybe it's because they tend to be more sophisticated, enlightened and trendy than others.

Sex is always in vogue.

Having sex with someone of your same sex is not sexual deviance if you are gay or lesbian... it is sexual deviance only if you are not gay/lesbian and are having sex with the same gender.

they are more sophisticated and enlightened and trendy. i think its something they are born with ive noticed they are always so proper with the correct shoes with the correct color of jeans and the belts and shoes it all has to go im like that to but not to that extreme even their houses are just so here is why i think they are like that they are a little more girly acting than us girls, no offense, and when i am in my girly girl phases i act the same i have to have the perfect bag with the most extraordinary high heels and so on so when you get in that girly phase believe you me thats the way it is so i completely understand they have alot of class i think i would love to have a gay friend to go shopping with lol

Because they think they are better then everyone else...which they are not! Why can't men act like men and women act like women. You know God created men and women different for a reason! Sexual Deviance is a sophisticated word for wicked rotten sin.

its not that gay people "behave like" such, and yes it is a very stereotypical but hey, it is kind of true, for example gay men, not saying all but GREAT for those who care about themselves, health, a good job, a career, looking good, knowledge, etc. Not to impress anyone but just to be someone in life, period!

What an as.shole-ish thing to ask.

If your own insecurities make you sooooo uncomfortable w/ homosexuals that you have to come up w/ ridiculous theories to justify your own heterosexualitiy then maybe, just maybe, the "sophistication & enlightenment" you see in us gays is what you lack in your own life.

Oh... it might also be that we are most definitely more sophisticated, enlightened & trendier than you.

Because they are trying to impress each other. Other gays to them represents potential meat.

Yes, it is en vogue to a subculture and to those who think they are on the societal cutting edge.
