All broadcast TV in the US is supposed to go DIGITAL by 2009. Digital can be used for HiDef or not (the alternative being several normal-definition channels at the same time from a single station), but either way you would need a digital TV or a set-top adapter. But that deadline may slip. It was originally supposed to happen in 2006, but it didn't.

well u know before cable, none of us had cable ready tv's... but it was like we all got a cable box, pretty soon all the tv's were cable ready...
I don't know. I have not heard this, but it is pretty much how things go.
Try to find a VHS at blockbuster these days..."VHS...whats that"?
Pretty soon we will all be choking on our TECHNOLOGICAL advances...
The day you get fired, because a robot can do your job, twice as good, and stuff...then worry.
Right now just go down and get your HIGH DEF.box that plugs in to the set, hey maybe we could make these or something...sell by the thousands, then there will be no worries about being too poor to buy a new high def. tv.

you dont need a hi-def tv to watch programs that use it, you just wont be able to view them in HD... but sometime next year all programs have to be broadcast in HD and all TV's that are made have to be HD...

that is not true. there are more and more are providing HD feeds but you do not need an HDTV to watch the channel.
