Well in simple terms Back lift means to lift a cricket bat in the backward direction before attempting to play a stroke. A high backlift usually derives more power. A low backlift derives more accuracy in terms of middling the ball. The higher the back lift the more chances of hitting the ball hard but also mistiming it. Great strokemakers always had a high backlift. The highest backlift i have ever seen is of Lance Klusner of South Africa. His back lift almost took the bat to a vertical position backwards.

Mohammad yousuf does not have a very high backlift. It is moderate and normal.

Coming to the second part, supersub and powerplay rules had been implemented for a period of 11 months on a test basis about 1.5 years back. The supersub rule now no more exists and has gone for revision. The powerplay is now a part of one day cricket. It is very simple. There are 20 overs out of the fifty where only two fielders can stay outside the 30 yard circle. Among the ones who are inside, two have to be in a catching position. There is one lot of 10 overs and two lots of five each comprising a powerplay. The fielding captain can decide when to use the 2nd and the 3rd lot. The first generally is used from overs 1-10.

Backlift is the extent of the bat raised in a batting stance before hitting the ball. The higher the bat goes, the higher the backlift. Lara, for instance has a high back lift.

The term could have other connotations as well, but that wouldn't exactly be in cricket.

High backlift is the term used to indicate how high the batsman lifts the blade of the bat before striking the ball, The higher the backlift more the power in the shot.. Agressive batsmen are usually associated with that..
Shahid Afridi, Sehwag, Adam Gilchrist, Yuvraj Singh, Ricky Ponting, Sachin etc.. above all.. Sir Don Bradman --- If you see his pics/clips of batting its usually a shot with very high backlift
