No. You have to have an amplifier between the guitar and the speakers.

The cabinet is nothing more than the speakers. If you want them to work, to have to buy an amp. The amp is the what you plug your guitar into. Amps are often referred to as "heads." You need to buy a "speaker cable" to link the head and the cabinet together. There are some heads that can be hooked up to 2 separate cabinets.
You said you wanted to save money. The best way to do this is to avoid buying at local music stores. If you want to save money, the best way is to shop online. The 2 best website are www.musiciansfriend.com or www.music123.com. Music123 has a better selection, but usually takes a long time to ship your order, and sometimes will force you to cancel your order and re-order. my suggestion is www.musiciansfriend.com.
Good luck!!

I particularly have quite a few deafening amps, and none have any onboard outcomes so i'm not sure what you have been finding at. speaker cabs choose a potential supply to tension them, so no, you would be unable to easily plug a guitar into it.
