I looked it up for my daughter... you need to have a job, be not in school, and have a place to live are the 3 biggies that you "need" to have. Look it up on the net to find out what you specifically need in your state. My daughter also could not even consider it until she was either 16 or 18 anyway. (I forget which, but that again depends on the state that you are in.) Just type in emancipation, "state".
btw, being abused or a problem with your parents are slightly different. You can be sent to foster care, without being emancipated. Emancipated means you want to be on your own, not just away from your parents or abuser.

It also depends on your age. Some reasons could be that your parents neglect you, are hateful to you, never wanted to have a child in the first place, or that your parents are stoned 24 hours a day. Most of it is very difficult to prove, unless you have a very good and expensive lawyer.

You must be able to prove that you are completely self sufficient. You must have a job that allows you to pay your bills, have a history of paying your own bills and prove that you can take better physical, financial and emotion care of yourself better than anyone else.
