I've already posted once about a career change, and as most of you are probably wondering, I'm going through what most college students go through everyday.....struggling to find which career makes me happy, and which career suits me financially. My original choice was psychology, but I feel as if its pretty much useless, and then I was looking real heavy into the MIS program, but the thing about that is I KNOW that will be too much for me. I hear if your're looking for a career with good money then one might want to major in business, but the thing is, is that I'm not the best in math, that got screwed up a long time ago, but the thing that I have noticed about me when it comes to math is that, if i have a good teacher one that loves to teach and is very patient with students, I can be a great math student I just have to have a good teacher that knows his/her job is to help the student and to be patient.

A business degree isn't all that useful, either. Sorry. I think you should focus on getting a degree--any degree-- in the fastest cheapest way possible and get out in the working world. If you are still in school go to your Career Services office on campus and do some diagnostic tests to see where your strong points are, and they will also have some info on internships.

Business major does not require high level of math. That is, not as much as technology related or engineering degree.

If you can master college math and possibly statistics, you'll be fine.

What I gather from your question is, you really haven't found anything you like, yet, and also your thinking process is very immature. Psychology is a great field. I don't know where you got "useless" idea from. Anything worthwhile will require your effort, and anything that will net you good income will require your best effort.

Money is important, but if you are only chasing money, you will be very VERY dissapointed. There is no such thing as enough money and that you will never attain your goal. MIS is a good field too, but it too require your undivided effort.

I understand about your math problem. I too had the similar problem. One year, I was left behind and it took me forever to catch up. But know this.... if you are looking for a perfect teacher that will take care of you and you only (after all, the teacher has to cram in all the materials in one hour each day and take care of all of her students), you'll never find him/her.

Perhaps it is time for you to change your approach, and use his/her office hours and keep asking questions until you understand the material. If you don't grab onto something, no body will glue you to the subject.

Being a "math person" really isn't that important to Bus. degree. I would encourage you to take the time and figure out what you are good at an what comes easy to you. What are the things that you like to do in school related to your classes? When you figure out what you strengths are and what you enjoy doing, the major and job choice will be much more evident.

Good luck!

Well, general business involves a little bit of accounting, and another bit of statistics. Oddly enough, the calculations involved in both managerial and financial accounting are generally just simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, etc etc.........it's really more conceptual than mathematic, despite the numeric nature of it. Statistics are even moreso. You should be fine, but you are right, you should employ the help of any tutor you can for help....in most institutions the help is provided for free.
