No weapons of mass destruction. Spreading freedom? Cuba would have been alot easier and it wouldn't have cost so much $ and more important so many lifes. A threat to US security? there are other nations that are a bigger threat.
Is it oil? or is it to gain control of the region?
If oil is the reason, why are gas prices so high?
I don't know if I'm mistaken, but it seems to me that the reason is oil; and, it is not for the benefit of US as a nation, but for the benefit of the few who own and control the oil industry in the US.
It seems like the war in Iraq was intentionally meant to be a disaster, with the only purpose of destabilize world oil supply to maximize profit at home. Besides this, wars are very expensive and a lot, a lot of money is involved. Big contracts, big commissions to those involved, big profit in overpriced war's supplies and equipment. All the millions of dollars spent dropping bombs in Afghanistan in random locations, just for the heck of it $.

Well they're on either side of Iran if they succeeded in doing what they want in Afghanistan and Iraq they would be in a good position to invade Iran. They could then effectively control the region and American oil companies could pass pipelines from Turkmenistan or other countries to wherever they want .Consider the middle east joins 3 continents together. That is a big market to consider. The oil companies tried to get agreements with the Taliban for years but they all fell through ,That's when you start hearing about how rotten the taliban are on the news .Before that they were referred to in the media As"the noble freedom fighters of Afghanistan" They were scared the russians would take control of the oil in turkmenistan and so backed the taliban for years.Even going as far as breeding religious extremism in their children as they felt that with this kind of extremism the Afghans would be less likely to back down against the Soviets.U.S university wrote the textbooks for their children and let me tell you these books are sickening.Nothing is happening by chance here .Wherever there's a buck to be made big companies are there with the army in tow if someone dosen't let them make money there.

The public was told that there were weapons that could destroy us and no weapons of mass destruction were found. We were told that Sadam was evil and has to be taken out well it seems half a million civilians are dead and that one man Sadam is still alive. Iraq the country is destroyed and our hard earned dollars are being thrown away like dirt.
The prime reason to attack Iraq was oil. Most oil rich nations deal in dollars and Iraq or Sadam was going to switch to Euros just like Iran is planning to switch from dollars to Euros. It is all about oil!
As far as Afghanistan it is so sad! Those people are extremely poor they have been ravaged by famine, war and they are just plain poor. With the coming of winter thousands upon thousands will die. The children in Afghanistan die before the age 2 or 3 from childhood diseases and starvation. Many women are blind due to lack of proper nourishment. I do not know why bombs are being dropped on those people but I sure wish our hard earned dollars were being used better!

Read his bio, know that he was murdering his own people day in and day out; his sons used the Lions and Tigers at the Baghdad Zoo to torture and eat victims and that he, the Germans, French and Russians were exchanging UN Oil For Food Oil against hard currency. He became a billionaire while his people suffered and died. I worked in the Oil Program in Iraq and saw the aftermath. The most anybody else on this question has done is watch CNN and prostyletize using hackneyed information to arrive at this most ignorant of questions

I think you are completely wrong. I do not believe that anyone will be making oil profits from Iraq until there is stability there.

We could have gone into Alaska for oil, by the way, if oil were the motive.

Instead of looking for the blame, probably ought to realize we are at war and need to win, because the cost of losing is too dear.

Buddy... this is probably one of the most complicated questions that anyone could ask on here. Not to mention, a question that I'm pretty sure 99% of us don't have the qualifications to really answer, as we don't have security clearance and knowledge like the men an women running our country and making the decisions.

But I believe the "main" reason for why the war with Iraq was started (whether it was "right" or "wrong"), is that the Administration truly thought of Iraq as a threat to our national security. Obviously the intelligence was obviously off... But ya know what, hindsight is always 20/20. Try running the most powerful nation in the world, and while doing so, make sure 100% of the population is happy and that you are never wrong.

He was cleaning up his fathers mess who should have got rid of Saddam after the gulf war but he didn't why? Probably because they tried to do a deal with the devil (Saddam) for oil of course and yes he did murder millions of people before the gulf war and was supposed to have chemical warfare so why didn't they get rid of him then. Now by invading Iraq and ignoring Osama Bin Laden, George Bush Jr has put the world on the verge of WW3 and so have all the people who supported him so you are not wrong unfortunately.

well i'll tell something..it wasnt for oil becuase if it had been then why are gas prices so damn high you know? but i seriolsy thing it was because bush like eery has said had a lil grudge on sadam, and since we were allready in Afganistan he probably said "hey im allready here i can take over sadam right now hell i'll do it" it was a good plan to invade iraq the only bad thing was that we didnt have a plan do deal with iraq after taking over it. so in the end i think Bush just did it because he wanted

The senseless war in Iraq has happened because of 2 factors. First is oil, Saddam never had WMDs, they were destroyed years ago. Why do you think the US is not attack the already nuke armed North Korea? That's because apart from its skilled population, it doesn't have any strategic resources. And also, the US is afriad that China may fiercely oppose any attack on North Korea, hell, not even the South Koreans are too eager to go to war with thier communist nieghbour. China is economically very important for the US. How often have you seen behind products
with the label "Made in China".

"The war in Iraq was not a war for America's defence, it was a war for Israel." - Dr. David Duke.

Now Bush was poking at Iran or its oil, not of some lame nuke program. I think that an attack on Iran is unlikely since the democrats are a majority in the senate. But, we never know.

There is will of God .
He has the promises for the Man Kind. The thought of destruction is fro the Mans Mind . But this is not of the God . There are Countires who fears the God Almighty.
There are countires not to fear anything , God or the Weapons or the plagues...
10 plagues were gone thru the Egyptians and the Phaoroah. They were not afraid of anything. They that feared when they lost their first Born. There is no question of their seed.
So one should condemn to warn the state of the Countires... That is Christ to love their neighbour .

the plan was to take over region by first taking afghanistan, then iraq and finally Iran. we knew Iran was tuff to beat so wanted to have them surrounded befeore we tried it.
Iran realizes this and is fueling the opposition in Iraq and building its forces and getting nuclear to prevent us for succeeding.
Our plans are failing. we bit off more than we can chew alone. we needed help of the world to defeat nazis and japan and we need help of the world to defeat islamic fascists/terrorists. we cannot do it alone. we are too weak.
it sounded like a good plan to young Bush but he has no military knowledge or experience and does not take advice well. Old Bush knew it was flawed.
