My right index finger was jammed 6 weeks ago playing volleyball. It still hurts and I can not make a complete fist...when I bend it a lump pops up on my knuckle...moving my finger from side to side is painful, as well as bending it....since its been six weeks, should I even bother having it looked at...will this ever go away????

If you are still having problems with it after this long, I would definately have it checked out and get some x-rays done

You should have it checked. I jammed my pinky finger in the door 6 years ago. And i couldnt bend it fully. I went immeadiately to the doc and it was a fracture. And the f**king doc didnt even fix it properly. I still cant bend it and it hurts even after 6 years, not to mention it looks horrible.
Make sure, that if it is a fracture or broken, that the finger is supported properly and absolulety straight with the adjoining finger. Becuase if it heals in the wrong position, it stays there then, like mine.

Yes you need to have it looked at. If there is something wrong they can fix it now but if you let it go you might wind up with some permanent damage.
