Is it good to have friends online, but not in real life. If two online friends were to meet in person, would they know eachother well. Like know the person when they seem them and start talking like they were talking in real life the whole time. You get what I'm saying right. Is it also good to get so ecxited to a point were your sitting next to the computer all day hoping that friend will come online to talk with you?

its nice to have friends online but you should have friends in real life. n also you should get to know an online friend really well....for years...before you consider meeting in person, n if you should meet, take someone responsible with you. people arent always as they are online as they are in real life. i know how you feel about getting excited waiting for a certain person to come online n thats cool every once in a while but you should also try other things to have fun, like go outside n play sports or other activities that interest you. its not healthy to always be inside n sitting at your computer, no worries, your friend will still be there when you get back n it'll be richer for your friendship and give you more things to talk about.

REMEMBER: It is very easy to lie on the Internet. The person you feel is your brother that is 15 from Alaska could be a 30 year-old sexual predator living in his mother's basement in Utah. BE CAREFUL. And no, it is not healthy to sit next to your computer all day waiting for him/her (they could be lying about their gender as well) to get on. That is not healthy. There is a life beyond chatting with online people. Get out, go shopping, do homework (if your in school that is), talk to some REAL LIFE friends, watch some TV, do something else. If you do plan to meet up with this person, make sure it is in a public place with people in it. Bring a friend. God Bless.

Truth is you never really know who your talking to on line. And it is not healthy to sit and wait for someone to respond to you. Get up and get out...on line is nice but not the real thing. People create themselves on line. You need some real friends and if you want to meet a person that you have been talking to on line, get their phone number and start talking to them and always meet in a public place. Be careful.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by 'socially acceptable'. In today's technology-driven society, it's not at all uncommon to socialize online with people you have never met and never will meet. However, the propriety of that situation depends on a lot of things. Young people should always be extra-cautious about how 'close' they behave with people they've never met, for example.

I have a friend online that i have never met in person and i consider him my brother, but we have never made plans to meet in person and i dont get all excited when they are online. Dont get too close to a person you have never met, you never know who they truly are.

Be careful with people who you talk to on line. I could very well be an axe-murderer just waiting for my next conquest! I'm not, a very quiet lady, but you get my drift. Did you see Silence of the Lambs? He was "nice" too!

If you are interacting with someone either in person or online, you are sharing your thoughts with him and if by chance if you start liking his or her thoughts you are going to like him...

Once you like a person this is quite natural for someone to be with him/her either in person or on online...
