Me and my boyfriend have been together for 5 years, currently living at my parents. We have talked about marriage, and we both see it in our future. We've even looked at rings. I have been thinking of making a mutual committment/engagement with him. Have you ever heard of a woman asking a man in a proposal? Any special ideas in doing this? Thanks in advance!

Do you think he would feel embarresed when we told our family and friends on how we got engaged? I wouldn't want him to feel like that.

Would I buy him a ring, or mine?

We have talked about moving, thats the reason we aren't engaged now. The way I see it is a committment is a commitment no matter where you live.

Yup. Did it myself, 17 years ago. He parked a 1-carat birthstone (that's a diamond, folks) ring on my finger and asked me to be his woman, so I asked him to marry me. Still together, hope we have 50 more yrs. together.
If you're on the same page and you've been together that long, ask him how he'd feel if a really hot, wonderful, awesome woman proposed to him. Consider his answer, then make your move...or not. Good luck!
BTW, if you're really serious about getting married, you two need to find your own home and leave the nest! Unless, of course, everyone is REALLY comfortable with the extended household bit.

ME!!!
I proposed to my now husband and he was sooooo surprised - I beat him to it!
Put my ring (family ring I inherited and ALWAYS liked) in an ice cube, served cold drinks, his with the ring in the ice cube, and when he noticed and the ice melted, he took the ring out of the bottom of the glass, and I asked him. And he slipped the ring on my finger and VOILA, we are still together after 11 years!
Good Luck!

I would totaly ask my partner if i knew he would say yes and it sounds like yours would.i think a hot air ballon ride would be so romantic or just a quiet picnic and put the ring in a cake just dont let him swallow it there are so many fun ideas.:) good luck
