Yes, they have a good chance. Amaris Ramirez, Derrek Lee, and if Kerry Wood and Mark prior actually get healthy, there team is beastly. But remember, no one is guarenteed in playoffs. As you have probably heard millions of times already, its the hottest team that wins. But its true. Cardinals were the worst team going in. They won. Yanks were predicted everywhere to win. They lost in first round.

No, they won't win. They don't have a solid defense. Alfonso Soriano cannot play the outfield. They won't win the world series. Their best fielder is Derrek Lee, a gold glover. There are much better teams such as the yankees and white sox who have better chances and better players than the cubs. You also don't know if everyone will be healthy, and what if a good player has an off year. They also don't have any good pitchers in the bullpen. Which can hold the cubs back by a lot. Bad bullpens have plagued many teams chances towards a title.

I don't think being "due" plays into it, but you guys sure have made some real good deals this off-season. Wood is staying, Soriano and Ramirez, I don't have any hope at all this year for my beloved Dodgers, so go take it to them Cardinals, and everybody else! I think you guys have a really good shot at it. Now put $100 down on them winning the series in Vegas today, and you'll win over a grand easy when they do! Too bad Harry won't be there...

ok u have lee ramirez and soriano, big f-ing deal, three people cannot win the world series. its a baseball team everyone has to work together and have good chemistry, like the sox.
to sum it up the cubs suck and will not win the world series, well in my lifetime.

some old man walked a goat around the park 60+ years ago, it was the fans fault etc. etc. problem is they invite real major league teams to come and play in there park. yeah the cubs will go all the way in 07 we just don't know if its 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 or whenever ya know .
With all the power they have now they will lose 25 to 24, and Lou will leave Chicago in 3 to 5 years a defeated broken man then go on to manage a bunch of flip flop foul ball screw ups to a world series somewhere else, and the cubs will bring in the greatest manager that ever walked the face of the earth since the beginning of time and history will repeat itself

Well you got it wrong right off the bat.YOU don't have to WIN.first you need to get out of last place.When the last time you remember a from worst to first scenario. It's been a while,and certainly the Cubs wont do it either.Plus you have to get through the Defending World Champion St. Louis Cardinals,
The Birds on the Bat,Redbirds,The Cards,Yea I'd say its not in the CARDS

They are assembling a good hitting lineup, especially with the addition of Soriano. But what they really need is to either get some pitching or cross their fingers and hope the pitching they have can get and stay healthy.

There is no doubt that the Cubs will be a better team this year. I am confident that they have a great chance of making the playoffs. I don't, however, think it is realistic to think they'll win the Series this year. There is a chance, but not a BIG chance.
