You ask good questions. I've writen in a diary off and on for two decades now, and still I feel inhibited as if some critic will read it and say its not up to pulitzer prize standards or some silly thing like that. I fear not the truth, I fear someone else critisizing MY truth. My raw and vulnerable truth.

No. I have had a Journal for 18 years. That fear has long been vanquished. Now if it was a letter to a particular person then yes. I would be a little scared. Displaying your feelings on paper is somehow final.

Honestly? I've never really felt the need to write down how I feel on paper - if I feel the need to think about how I feel, I talk to my wife about it. The only time I've ever really put down on paper my thoughts or feelings is when I write poetry or stories. I don't think about it, I don't fear it.

Fear is the Mind-killer, fear is the little death...

There is nothing to fear but fear itself...

Fear is all in your mind - people only fear that which they do not understand...

IF YOU HAVE A FEAR - CONFRONT IT
It's the only way you can overcome it. Fear can cripple your body, your mind, and your soul - don't let it. Fear is nothing if you give it nothing to feed on. Fear is so insignificant that it must have a host to feed on, or it dies....

no, writing things on paper helps to get your true feelings "out" and when that happens, the truth (even if bad) is easier to deal with or understand

I write it anyway, read it and then tear it up. I guess I just feel that it takes the burden of feelings I don't really want. My heart and mind don't need anger, bitterness, or tempting fates and destinies.

Yes, but you shouldn't be. I try to be as blunt and as honest as possible.

If a really fat women asked me if she looked fat in that dress I would tell her the honest truth.

The truth may sometimes hurt but it is always the right thing to do.
