...never having been near "Dance Dance Revolution" myself, I have no idea.

He has a girlfriend; looks like a good couple activity/Xmas present.

Any thoughts?

I think DDR is more about being good at videogames, so I wouldn't link it to dancing directly. If you think that regardless of DDR this person might enjoy it then yes, gift sertificate to dance lessons would be a nice and unusual gift.

Many movie theaters in my area have DDR together with other games, you might want to try and see for yourself what it is.

It depends on if he likes to dance or not. As far as I can see from DRR sessions, it has nothing to do with dancing and EVERYTHING to do with being able to 'beat' a video game.
If he likes dancing, it's a great gift! If not, send them my way! I can always use some lessons LOL
