there is smackdown there is raw, now there is ecw what really is that, is it an offshot of WWE... whats the rationale why there are so many wrestling federations but is still in 1 mother federation. There was WCW, is that RAW today? then now ECW? i know TNA is not WWE, and that is the only truly separate federation, but raw, smackdown, and ecw i think are just the same... it makes it so complex, wrestling is wrestling... i love wrestling

Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) is a professional wrestling brand of World Wrestling Entertainment, based on the independent promotion Extreme Championship Wrestling that lasted from 1992 to 2001. It debuted on June 13, 2006 with a weekly television series. The ECW brand is one of WWE's three brands, the other two being RAW and SmackDown!.

The ECW brand has sought to differentiate itself from WWE's other brands. For example, ECW's male performers are referred to as "Extremists", as opposed to the SmackDown! and RAW performers who are called "Superstars". ECW's female performers are referred to as "Vixens", as opposed to WWE's "Divas".

ECW is a show that used to be so great in the past. Now it is just.. I dont know.. Horrible sports entertainment? SmackDown! is okay, i wouldnt say i would watch it every day. MNR is okay too, i dont watch it that much but i watched it yesterday and i have to admit; it was good stuff. TNA is way lower than the WWE but TNA always seems to entertain me more than the WWE. Probably because TNA shows good acting and much more wrestling which looks more real than the WWE. I love wrestling too. TNA got nice complex wrestling, nice moves etc. it just excites me and thats why i watch TNA. Raw, SmackDown! and ECW are all under the WWE, they are all similar and are always involved with each other in anyway. TNA used to be owned by Vince McMahon back in the 90s. TNA is a mix from WCW and the WWF which is awesome. Vince McMahon owns three wrestling shows. I got no idea why but maybe because he can make more money this way?

Have a nice day!

WWE is both RAW and Smackdown...

ECW started off as a league of its own in the struggles between WCW and WWF, the MacMahons eventually bought and owned all 3 and merged them into the WWE (World Wildlife Foundation claimed the rights to the WWF abbreviation)

Now, I believe that ECW is off on it's own again, I don't watch it enough to find out.

So I believe it is now WWE, TNA, and ECW as the 3 wrestling franchises

Extreme Championship Wrestling. Paul Heyman & Joey Styles used to own it. They filed for bankruptcy a few times and that's when in 2006 Vince decides to reopen ECW as a part of the WWE.

ECW was a promotion owned by joey styles and paul heymen...they couldn't compete with VKM and were only known regionally in the Philly area....VKM finally made them an offer they couldn't refuse..Raw is the flagship...Smackdown is for the second team...and now ECW is for the bottom of the barrel like the big show...hope that helped

ECW is a shell of what it used to be. Now, instead of firing people they send wrestlers they have no storyline for to ECW. That's why Daivari, Khali, Terkay, and Burke went there.
