I have found that with every person, when something happens to them that they don't like but have to endure, take every chance you have to bring surprises and joy to that person. If they can start to focus on the anticipation of little surprises and lots of affection, they will start to see what happened to them as an adventure instead of a trauma.
Good luck and God Bless

hi! I'm not parent yet, but when i was young and i broke my leg, it was hard. i had a casts for like 6 to 7 months, thank god i didn't have the surgery, anyway, casts are pretty uncomfortable. i would suggest you help your son in everything right now. when he gets the cast. wrap his arm in plastic bag, when taking a shower. also find him a stick or a hanger thing so he can scratch his arm if it gets a bit itchy.also when he sleeps, make sure he finds comfortable position so the circulation could be Good, sometimes there is numbness because of it. but good luck in everything and hopefully it's a fast recovery.

bath not shower and cover cast or splint with a plastic bag.
Make him rest. Give him plenty of good food and vitamins
Personally, I would not send him to school and ask the teacher to send his work home until the cast is put on his arm - you know how kids are

My guy broke his arm whilst he became 3. 2 weeks till now a kinfolk camping out holiday to an extremely heat area. Spend overtime with him doing something he likes Does he prefer to envision? flow to the lib. Invite a pal or 2 over and lease DVDs the 1st jointly as is the toughest. Injured arm in sleeve first. Plastic bag loosely tied over arm for baths as quickly as he's in a position to get his forged spend the extra $ and get a fibreglass forged..they're water-resistant (my guy swam) very stable, and that they arrive in some very cool colorings. he's probably real sore nonetheless so attempt to be extra patent. good success!

Tell him to take it like a man and for goodness sakes, don't baby him and give him "little surprises" that'll make him feel like a little one armed Prince. Go about life as usual as possible and help this little fella become a man. Broken bones are a rite of passage for boys. Don't steal this from him!!

dont' baby him too much.. just reinforce that he's still alive! and he's still capable of doing things with one arm. he'll possibly learn from this experience...
tricks for shower.. just keep cast dry.. but let him fend for himself..
getting dressed, just make it easier for him.. let him wear sweatpants where he wont have to zip up.. and t shirts so no buttons..
