Super,
Tell the guy you do like him and perhaps you'll see him again down the road. This way you keep the door open to see what happens later.
And use this as a growing lesson ..... friends can be a great thing ... but you need to do what feels right to you with re-guard to your relationships ... it sounds like he was nice and you reacted to your friends comment about him being younger before you thought it through. Think before you speak & act ...... you'll be much happier in the long run.
Choose folks to be close to who are and have the things you are looking for in a person ... they make you laugh, they are very smart, ... what ever it is that fits & suits you ... to make you happy. If your friends don't like him because he's a year older or younger .. then are they really your friends or just jealous of the good catch you made?
Be smart, Choose well

You should never break up with someone you like just because someone else is teasing you about going with that person. And breaking up with someone because he is in a grade lower than you are makes no sense at all. After graduating, a good friend of mine married a boy who was two years behind us in school, and they have been happily married for years.
There isn't much you can do about this boy, since he is moving away. But before he goes, you should apologize to him and tell him why you broke up with him and how sorry you are that you did that. Then wish him luck at his new school. You should then think about the lesson you learned from this experience, and make sure that, in the future, you don't allow anyone to tease you into breaking up with someone you like.

Grade 7 and 8 is like no differences. Grade 8 boys would not make fun of each other for dating grade 7 girls. I could see it being a big deal if he was in grade 6. Go for it your friends do not know what they are talking about.

Wait to 'go out' with a male until you are old enough to handle it. If you broke up with him due to something your friends thought, you are obviously too young to be 'going out' with anyone. You have to have your own mind first, otherwise you end up hurting others, like I am sure you did when you broke up with this boy.
He's moving, there is nothing TO do. You merely feel like you like him so much because you are obsessively thinking of him. Find something elese to occupy your mind and you will be amazed at how quickly this situation resolves.
