Should i go for 1440-990 or what ? My video card is Radeon 9600XT, help me ! please !

Stick with the native resolution of 1440 x 900. LCDs are not very good at displaying non-native resolutions. They can display those resolutions, but the clarity, sharpness, and detail of the image will be lower. This is why most people buy a video card to match their LCD and not the other way around.

It gain depends on user preferences, I find that 1074 x 768 is a good size to avoid eye strain, but try different settings and see which best suits your for the programs you are running.
