I am not a religious person by any means but maybe we are seeing what happens to society when it turns away from faith, in something bigger than us all, hope, that our path can be changed in time to avert disaster, and love for our fellow man the way that GOD ALMIGHTY loves us all. Isn't this the final aweful destination of a world that forgets about foregiveness, compassion, and mercy in favor of greed, vice, and apathy? If one buys in to this notion that there is nothing else but us to guide us through history, I would say to them that, if that's true, I don't think belief in something more than us would cause a worse here and now than we have. We have been fighting among ourselves on this little planet since the beginning so the very fact that war is inevitable says something. Now here we are with bigger and deadlier weapons to fight these wars. Do you think the "powers that be" will be able to keep a lid on it forever? Those things that you mention in your question are just the beginning. The 60's tried to change it all and they rode a huge crest of good feeling for a while, but, after everyone grew a little older you see that it is not much different now than back then. Why did they sell out and get jobs and finally become their parents? I firmly believe it was because they had no solid ground spiritually. Any endeavor started or continued without belief in something more important than self and without faith that mortal man can transcend death through redemption and acceptance is DOOMED to failure. Do you really think that if we banned all religion and made it a crime to speak of it publicly our world would be better? I'm sure the people who engage in the acts described in your question would certainly like it better. This world is IN a very sad state and, I believe, the only thing to do is keep trying to change our little part as best we can. Goodbye and God Bless!!

Because people have too much free time, we should make everyone with a job, work 12 hours a day, every day but one. Unless they refuse to think our way, then they can work seven days a week. And the government should put schools way out of town and make it illegal to live or work within five miles of em. That would get rid of those stupid slow school zones too. Good questions by the way.

um ... i can't say i know how the devil attires himself but all the other stuff you mention has plagued human societies for eons. only difference is nowadays there's far more humans so there's far more weirdness and we have TV and the Internet to inform us of every aberrant human behavior, every catastrophe, every famine, flood and fad, little brown babies starving live on satellite feed, someone always shocking and awing someone, evangelists are gloating for the end times, the talking heads go blah blah blah and the politicians lie more lies.

turn off your TV.

Most people just don't care about love anymore. Sad but it's the truth. Sex rules everything and love has taken the backseat.
