Malcom speed Is the Australian Captain, not Ricky Poninting.
Can you belive that a real capain would not send a side in to follow on after a 400 plus lead, only by coindence that the match is sold out for the 5 day's and if the game is over in 3 day's refund's would have to be issued.
sad day for the greatest game.,

You do have a nice theory. It "could" be true. Cricket Australia has a tradition of putting ticket sales ahead of the team. Steve Waugh's career was prolonged needlessly, a hype created for his farewell series, and the last test match scheduled for Sydney. A full house with some wornderful marketing skills. That Australia almost lost to India in the series at home was not a matter of concern.

But then, Australians NEVER enforce the follow-on after the VVS debacle in Kolkatta. Except when they are playing a minnow or there is a threat of rain.

With the second test due to start in Adelaide three days after this one, obviously Ricky Ponting has the idea to thoroughly demoralise the poms giving his side a great morale boost for the 2nd test.As for your statement about Malcolm Speed.....what a load of CODSWALLOP!!!

Yes, indeed it was a surprise decision of Ricky Ponting, which cannot be justified by any means. It has saved the embarrassment of England Team the loss of test match by an innings.

What you say does make sense. However don't you think England are also to blame. The English and Australian Batsmen both batted on the same pitch. If England's performance was not so woeful then we would not have had this situation!!!
