If you are asking if it is possible to have a healthy baby without taking prenatal vitamins, the answer is absolutely. Women did it for thousands of years. I would suggest at least taking a folic acid supplement. Clinically proven to prevent spinal cord diseases like spina bifida, it is definitely worth taking during the first and second trimesters.

Actually I didn't take my prenatal vitamins because they made me sick and my baby came out perfect and he is smart for his age and healthy . He started to hold his head up, and baby talk to you at a month old they don't usually do that until 2-3 months he rolled over at 3 1/2 months some don't until 5 or 6 months, and and now he's growing a tooth at 4 months and can sit up by him self . He is SMART AND VERY STRONG. When he was born the doctors would and people say he so alert for his age an Strong he could stand up while hold my fingers and 3 weeks old . Be live it or not . Your baby will just be fine but it really your choose to take them or not , all the vitamins are more vitamins for your baby .But you have to be eating healthy an the right foods an you also have to be very healthy inf your not or your body cant handle the pregnancy then of course take your vitamins for your baby's sake .

I didn't take prenatal vitamins, and my daughter is very healthy. Right after birth, she passed the test with a 10 out of 10. There was no such thing as prenatal vitamins in the past, and babies were born healthy. I ate healthy during my pregnancy and didn't need the prenatal vitamins.

The vitamins are for you, not the baby. The baby will get what it needs from the mother, usually at the mother's expense, so the vitamins are a way of supplementing the mother's diet. Assuming that the mother is generally healthy and has an adequate diet, there should be no problem. Women have been having babies for millenia without taking extra vitamins. Also, look to China, India & Africa. Those ladies have babies all the time without taking extra vitamins.

Prenatals are not always necessary. Docotors kind of treat us all like we're on an assembly line. They assume we're all the same. See, some women have terrible diets and so they prescribe prenatals to all of us. If one eats a well balanced diet that contains a variety of foods, vitamins are not necessary and this holds true if you are pregnant. The thing is, most vitamins from the docs are loaded with preservatives and things you don't want in your body. In fact, many of those preservatives keep your body from absorbing the vitamins. Flintstones are no better. No one should buy those ever...not even for kids. They are loaded with sugar and they are not easily absorbed by the body so you are basically taking extra sugar, that is it.

Folic acid is important when you are pregnant. But many foods contain folic acid or are fortified with it. With this third pregnancy I starting paying more attention and realized I was getting a lot of folic acid. I did start taking a multi-vitamin because I felt like my iron was low in early pregnancy. I take a natural vitamin made with whole foods and no preservatives. The one I take is by Nature's Plus and is from thevitaminshoppe.com

I've had 3 pregnancies and have never taken the prenatal vitamins. All 3 of my children turned out healthy. I didn't take any other type of vitamins or anything like that. Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not suggesting that you don't take your vitamins. I'm just saying that mine were fine without them.

I didnt take prenatals because they made me feel sick and I'm just not good about remembering to take pills. I never even ate very healthy while pregnant (next time I'll try harder). Towred the middle of my pregnancy I started taking flinstone vitamins (my doctor told me that's a perfectly fine substitue for prenatals). My baby is now 18 months, healthy and beautiful!
The biggest reason we are advised to take prenatals is for FOLATE. But so many foods are now fortified w/ folate (all cereals), so even if you havent taken prenatals, youre still probablly getting quite a bit of folate.

I have had 3 pregnancy's and none with prenatal vitamins, my children are healthy and very well. My children were born at a good birth weight and got 9/10 for the first test at 1 min after birth. and 10/10 after 10 mins. My son was born at 39+6 weeks and weighed 6lb12oz, my daughter was born at 36+6 weeks weighing 6lb5.5oz. Very healthy and no pills except I had iron tablets when pregnant with my daughter to build my immune after blood loss during birth with my son, due to a low lying placenta.

Best of luck. If you needed something specific your doctor would make sure you got it. Eat healthy and all will be fine.

I have had 5 children and never took any vitamins with any..
Sorry with my 1st and 3rd I had to go on iron supplements because my iron levels were too low.
It is up to you. I think the vitamins is more for you because of the extra nutrients the baby takes from your body and this way you can replace them.
My children are all healthy and very active in their sports and do well at school.
Its up to you, if you do not wish to take them then don't

If you are eating healthily you shouldn't really need vitamin supplements. They are all there, in your green white and orange vegetables. I hpe you are eating plenty of those... Diet is rather important when you are pregnant, so you should be keeping out all those harmful fats, sugars and salts, and taking in lots of milk, calcium and protein.

If you are feeling extremely lethargic due to pregnancy stresses, then by all means have them. I found while I was breastfeeding I became very exhausted and the vitamins perked me right up, but I didn't reallly need them before that. Your body is the best monitor. If you are feeling perky then you are AOK!
