When I turn on my laptop the internet tries to automatically connect. It says waiting for network, then acquiring network address, then it stops and lists "limited or no connectivity". I don't know what else to do, I've tried clicking the repair for the ip address for it to renew, it still does not work.

Check the DNS settings in both the PC and the router/modem, most times there is a conflict there.
Try setting the pc to auto IP address, and the router to act as a DHCP server, this should resolve the issue.

What is the ip address you recieve when you click repair? if it is 192 .x.x.x you are connecting and it could be firewall software stopping your connection or if you are recieving a 167.x.x.x you have a network card issue. try unplugging your modem and router, then start the modem let it reset, start your router, then restart your laptop. you may also run the internet connection wizard and verify you are set to never dial a connection.

Do you have a DHCP server?
