Depending on how mashed into the carpet it is...
Not very, then just use ice and scrape it off.
If it's mashed in, then use fine/small scissors and cut it out, as little as possible of the fibers but all of the gum.
I did that and I can't tell where the spot is anymore. Just brush the spot and vacuum it to fluff up the spot and you should be fine.
IF, you don't like the look, then get some fibers of carpet from a left over piece or a corner somewhere and glue the fibers onto the 'hole' you made (I call it hole because if you feel you can see it and it bothers you then it must be a hole) and again... vacuum to fluff it all up. Best of luck.

Try to get your hands on some Resolve and some Wine Away, together they will diminish if not completely get rid of the icky ****. Spray two sprays of each for each "piece" of gum that has stuck into the carpet. Get a thick dish towel and scrub as vigorously as possibly, it should rub off in little pieces. Good luck!

This is just a pure thought that might work. It depends on how stuck in the carpet it is. But I'd say that maybe you could use baby oil and a fine-tooth or lice comb. I don't really know. I've never had that experience.

ice, freeze it and chip out as much as you can that way, then find in the cleaning section of your favorite store, a product that removes gum, hopefully that will do it, but you need to freeze what you can and get the big part out first. good luck.

try getting some mayonaise and rubbing it on there and then clean it with a washcloth because the oil in the mayo helps loosen up the gum to remove easier.
