Yes. You can't wash suede. Take it to a dry cleaner, and they will send it to a specialized leather cleaner.

suede is almost impossible to clean, even for the dry cleaner. Remember this is a product that spots when it rains on it. What were you thinking about when you were contemplating putting it in a washing machine. like some others said, BAD IDEA. Call the local tannery and ask for cleaning instructions for suede because I don't know any and I had a nice suede jacket I used for at least 3 years. You just have to be extremely careful with it, sort of like silk.

YES, it will ruin it.
Suede is leather. A special kind of leather, but still leather. And leather should NEVER EVER go in the washing machine, or anywhere near water.
Take your coat to a dry cleaner that has experience working with suede.

Real suede can't be washed in the washing machine. Even the dry cleaners have a special process much like they have for leather

My husband had a suede coat. It needed cleaning. I ended up in the hospital before we could get it to the cleaners. He came to visit me one morning, took his coat off and asked me if I thought it would hurt it to hang it in front of the heater in the room, silly me I asked "why???" He said "it's still damp." I said "why? It hasn't rained." His reply "I washed it." It took a few seconds for it to really soak in. "You did what"? "I washed it, that won't hurt it will it?" "No just ruin it is all, that is suede leather, you don't wash leather." "Well I washed it and put it in the dryer on air for a while, then took it out and hung it up all night. I put a big towel in with it because the snaps were making a lot of noise. It feels ok to me, and it still fits." And handed it to me. The inside was still slightly damp. He turned it inside out and by the time he left that night it was totally dry and just a soft as it ever was. And as crazy as it sounds the man wore leather coats for years, suede and regular tanned leather. After that he never took another coat to the cleaners. Just threw them in the washer in cold water and ran them through the short cycle. Suede tossed it in the dryer on wash and wear, no heat just air then hung it inside out. Regular leather, same thing but as it finished drying he would use saddle soap. The cold air in the dryer never totally dried them they would have to hang for several hours to complete the drying. And to this day we still wash leather in cold water and then wash and wear no heat. This is our experience.
