It doesn't always happen in line with the holes themselves either. And sometimes it is only in certain spots, not all the way down the button-hole flap.

Sometimes the thread used to make the buttonholes shrinks. That makes the cloth around the buttonholes pull and wrinkle. Right after you take the shirt out of the washing machine, pull both ends of the placket with buttonholes to stretch them in case they shrank.

I`ve had problems with shirts like that. The only solution I found was to iron the button hole flap from top to bottom..Sorry!

Button them up before you launder them.
