I want to learn to drum. How do I get started?

Question

Well, i have a set of drumsticks and a passion for banging at my home made drum set (books, chairs etc...). But i wanna get serious about it and really learn. How do i get started, what should i do?

also, keep in mind that i cant afford a 1000 dollar drum set, or a 400 one at that

also, im 15, 9th grade

go to any music store, start looking for a drumset, music stores can suggest the brand... and ask if they know anyone who can teach it... or get a 'how to' book... or beginers book, w/e.... but just start out by going to a music store, and look around

(idk how old you are, but if you in middle school/high school... you probably have a band, and you can learn basics if you take one year of band... doing percussion)

Do you have a local music store perhaps downtown? Have you taken the time to go to the library to take out books on how to drum? Perhaps if you call a local club that hosts live bands they may be able to give you a name and a number of a person that you can call to take lessons! Good luck and happy drumming.

go to guitar center or something and buy a drum set and a self learning thing or look for lessons in your town. theres a band called street drum corps that bangs on like garbage cans and what not, you should check them out. maybe you can get into banging on house hold things, its really intresting if you get into it.

well I wanted to learn how to play guitar so the first thing that I did was ask if anyone in my family played to save money instead of getting a tutor and fortunatly for me my cuzzin played and he let me barrow one of his extra guitars and he tought me so Id see if ne1 in your family plays and if not then Id look up drumming lessons on the computer but Im sure that u have already done that.lol.
