I was born in College Park, Georgia, a well known black community (possibly known from numerous rap videos). Well I am white. I grew up only knowing about Jay Z, Biggie, etc. I now live i Milwaukee in an ugly, crime ridden neighborhood. Now, my grandma generously is paying for me to go to a private school that is unfortunately for me...rich and preppy. Being raised in an urban environment all my life, it makes me sad to see these kids act all ghetto and ****. I do have black friends, and they all are great people. I wear urban clothing to school, and am constantly asked "why do you wear that stuff, you're not black?" Why don't people understand that it's part of my life, regardless of color?

Are you going to wear urban clothing when you get out in the real world looking for a job too? I'd wonder why you wear those odd clothes too if I went to that school. Do you wear your pants slung way low around the bottom of your *** too? Is it really part of your life or are you just trying to prove something? Why don't you show a little respect for your grandmother and try to make a good impression on the people at that school so you're not swimming upstream your whole life.

They are very narrow minded and ignorant. Baby, be yourself and wear what you like wearing. That is one of the advantages of being young. The time when you have to wear more conservative clothing will come soon enough. The one thing you can always blow anybody aware anywhere is to perform well in your classes. Hit those books hard! It is nice to see young people who have been exposed to many cultures, hopefully your generation will make a difference in the world.

Because they are small minded. It's so sad. Next time let them know that obviously you don't have to be Black to buy urban fashions. Remind them that in the real world, there is no law prohibiting races other than Black to purchase urban attire. Hello people!

Like it or not, people tend to associate a style of dress with a lifestyle. If they see videos or images of rappers dressed a certain way and you show up dressed a bit like that people will unfairly assume that you approve of gangbanger, cop killers, foul mouthed rappers.
I don't say it's fair, but you are asking about human nature and I am laying the truth on you.
You could choose to be a sort of ambassador to teach the people at school that not everyone who dresses like that is bad. Or you could dress more like the other kids and get through school with a bit more ease.
I believe a person should be able to dress the way they want but also they should not do it to deliberately cause a conflict......

I am white and grew up in an all black area as well. just be yourself and ignore them. I know what it's like to go from the type of environment you grew up in and then to end up in a white area....ppl used to look at me like I was a freak because of the way i talked.... 98 pound white girl that sounded like a black girl. I just stayed true to myself and the people that became my friends saw me for me and not how I dressed or sounded....

Try not to feel too lonely, someone will come along and value you for who you are....good luck

Peolpe are going to talk about you no matter what .you just have to learn to stick it out.Now I'm a black girl and I'm not even gonna lie if I saw a white kid dressed with his pants hanging to the bottom of his a** then I would sourt of look. But I still would respect that kid because that says alot about him.It shows that he isn't affraid of who he is. That's SEXY!!!!!!!!!!

They are ignorant! If they moved to where you were from they wouldn't want people asking why they don't dress the way they do.
