Take it from a "black girl who grew up suburban," that it goes both ways. I was always teased by black kids for 'acting white'. There is no real way to answer this question, other than, be who you are. Not how the media says you should be because the white-owned media has only taken the most marketable aspects of black culture in its eyes and put it up for sale. As long as you're not experiencing "buyer's remorse," you go, boy...

Well, i dont neccisarily associate black wth hip hop. I mean its not a race, its a genre of music. Now, more black ppl listen to this genre and thus imitate it. So now ppl say if you follow the culture you are "actng black." But me personally, i say if someone wants to act not an uneduacted, lazy, bum and support objectifing women, promoting violence and the like... then hey thats them... i just wish ppl wouldnt associate all black ppl to this trash.
Yep, as you can tell i dont care to much for hip hop or rap or what ever its called these days. Its degrading to our ppl, in my opinion. Im sure there are styles of rap that arent motivated by sex, violence and ignorance, but i havent heard any...Call me me old school, (im 18) but thats how i feel about the whole thing.
so to answer your question luv, i dont feel proud and i sure as heck dont feel like they are stealing anything... isay take and keep it!!! lolol. They look just as ridiculous as the black ppl doing it. so yeah, thats my two cents luv...
peace and love- chai

I could care less if if white or anyone else wants to imitate the hip-hop persona. As long as they stay true to themselves people should feel free to indulge whatever aspect of our (American) culture they like. As long as they do not try to harm others.

There is so much diversity, now, that I really don't think anyone's "acting" a certain way. They're only influenced by the type of music they like... kind of like in the 80's when everyone listened to the same music and dressed like Flashdance and other videos out there. I like to see that they're open minded enough to dress like people they admire. Doesn't bother me.

I don't get mad I just don't understand why anybody would want to be another race. It's like they are not proud of there own race. I'm sure they know what "BLACK PEOPLE" have been through for thousands of years.

What makes you think that every white kid that is embracing the hip hop culture is acting. You don't act black, or white. That mess don't matter. You're living the life, not acting it!

You direct this question to black people like we only act a certain way or we are the only people who act ghetto. If those kids want to look stupid and degrading then that's on them it does not bother me.

Actually, that could be any race other than Black acting that way. So, to answer your question, what difference does it make? It's obvious that Black culture has influenced the world in positive ways. Mos def!
