not neccessarily, for instance, whoever has primary custody of the children would retain the house. it depends on a lot of particulars. if theres no kids involved, then all the joint assessts could be split. also depends on whos been the principal breadwinner of the family that would determine if alimony would have to be paid or not. every case could be different. its not just a cut and dried 50/50 split
