It sure woulda saved me alot of money. I bought 45s, albums, cassettes, CD's and now I have an iPod.
Wouldn't it have been better to skip all those other phases and just made an iPod to begin with?
Or am I crazy?

well the progression of technology has contributed to the ipod. An ipod is like a computer with a tiny hard drive. We didnt have tiny enough hard drives to hold the music back when cassettes came out.

It would have been invented sooner, but the hard drive would have been so big, you couldn't have carried it around in your pocket.
The technology to store so much data in such a small space didn't exist 10 years ago.

Not that you're crazy, but that's like asking why didn't they invent personal computers first instead of building the big room size computers that cold only add and subtract. Baby steps, it takes baby steps.
