Plain and simple. Stereotypes are based on many people having the same experiences.. obviously the stereotypes of blacks happens so often that they are grouped like that. But yes I agree there are many who are NOT part of that. But the overall black culture fits into the stereotype. Many break out of that victim mentality. But I can tell you after working in mostly black offices for the last 20 plus years that a good part of those stereotypes are VERY true.. In the different offices I have worked in over the years. Generally speaking the blacks have been some of the dumbest.. laziest.. “I am only here for a paycheck” mentality that I have ever seen. The only ones that gives blacks a bad name is the blacks themselves.. they need to point the finger at themselves and their own culture..

Debating stereotyping is pretty tricky! Be careful! I think the better question is why is there only one stereotype of any type of person.
I don't like to say this but it's true - Stereotypes exist for a reason: because some people live up to them.
It doesn't mean that everyone of any race lives up to their stereotype, but it's certainly fair to say that some do.
I like to think that if you don't like the stereotype placed upon you, then you should create a different stereotype.
Therefore, your statement is correct, but it's not the right question.

You can't stereotype just some... you have to stereotype all at once or none at all. I don't think many people actually still stereotype, except for joking purposes, but bigotry and racism/discrimination doesn't seem too prevalent these days.

Some are different that others. I am guessing that the majority of people on this site are young and only see what is is school or in their neighborhoods.
